点评:Cats everywhere! I came here with my family as we were staying in the St Azur hotel and I am so glad we did. Once you get up the top of the hill and just past the (reception? Its like a square building with a barrier arm thing to stop cars) its cat heaven! Part of the reason we came to Malta was to see the cats and we were a little sad we didn't see any around Il-Gżira so I am so happy we found them lol. The cats have food, water, toys, beds and shelter and seem to have someone come and look after them which is absolutely wonderful to see. They have little cat huts which someone has lovingly built them as well as other places to play and hide. Many aren't spayed/neutered so I hope one day maybe fundraising could be arranged so they can be spayed and neutered, as you can tell they are breeding a lot (so many ginger ones lol!) I even was able to pet a couple and a tortoiseshell/tabby one which had one ear that was half bitten off was extremely friendly and purring lots. I think that one might have been a pet that was abandoned but I am not sure. If you do visit and want to pet the cats do be wary as they are stray cats after all and most are too scared so just let them come to you if they want too :D. For the actual island it is very run down with buildings that are abandoned, I do believe they are in the middle of renovating it so I didn't mind too much about that. The beaches were quite nice, the rocks are very sharp and some are slippery so thats something to be careful about. There was lots of rubbish on the beach but I assume its partly from being washed up from the water. As someone else said there isn't any shops or toilets as far as I know so if you are someone who needs to be near a toilet due to ibs etc that's something to keep in mind. I don't particularly think a shop is necessary as it is a very small island but maybe public toilets. I did also find it was quite tricky to find + get to the beaches as there are no signs, so that would be quite nice if there was signs directing which way to go. Overall its a lovely island and I hope it doesn't get too modernised as the ruins and run down nature of it is actually quite nice.
