点评：We took the iconic Kandy to Ella train and we really enjoyed it. The views are nothing short of breathtaking – rolling hills, lush tea plantations, and charming little villages gently pass by (this is not a quick trip!). It’s a long journey, but the scenery makes every minute worth it.
We booked our tickets in advance through the Sri Lanka Trains Ticket website, which worked smoothly. We downloaded and printed our tickets without issue. Just a heads-up – there were small discrepancies between the time printed on the ticket and the official schedule, so double-check timings closer to your travel date.
We opted for 1st Class Air-Conditioned, and while reviews say you miss out on the full “open-window” experience, we really appreciated the cooler temperature and extra space, especially over such a long journey.
Getting to Kandy station by Tuk Tuk was easy and convenient. Uber works in Kandy too, but don’t expect instant pickups – it can take a bit of time for a driver to show up.
Pro tip: Bring your own snacks! There are vendors on the train selling items, but it’s definitely worth having some food and drinks with you.
Overall, an unforgettable way to experience the Sri Lankan countryside. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the region!
