点评:My adult daughter and I have been on several equestrian trips around the world. This year, we took the Rancho Saman 7 day "Mountains and Waterfalls" trip and simply LOVED our experience! Marc, the owner of the horses and Rancho Saman, is simply an amazing guide. He has a story to tell of coming to Colombia and the purchase and training of each of his very fit, very capable horses. The horses immediately put us at ease with their confidence. This is a ride for those who love being in the saddle and enjoy seeing the world from a horses back. It is fairly rigorous with much trotting and cantering in order to cover the 80 miles in 4 and 1/2 days. After a first day and night at Marc's lovely Rancho (complete with a delicious dinner he cooked for us), we headed out by truck to our farthest destination where the horses were waiting for us to begin our adventure. We did get hit by a monsoon-like storm our first day but Marc provided heavy duty ponchos that helped keep us dry and it added to our adventure!
Each day we would ride out, headed for our next lodging. We rode through villages, skirted the edge of a large town (all with calm, desensitized horses who carried themselves with confidence), coffee fields, banana fields, the jungle rainforest, mountain tops and meadows. The beauty of the Colombian Andes is simply remarkable. Each of our lodgings had it's own character, sometimes involving lovely surprises that I won't ruin for future guests. Marc is a kind and generous person who is there for the guest at every turn. We had such a wonderful trip, we were all sad to have it end. We made new friendships, learned about Colombian coffee and culture, philosophized together, and admired our steeds together. Words can't really do the experience justice... but these help:
"The wind of freedom blows through a horse's mane, carrying the whispers of the earth."
