A magnificent property with top notch cafe.
Longstowe Hall Gardens的点评
点评：We've been trying to visit Longstowe Hall for a couple of years as it is the nearest property to us in the Historic Houses scheme. We finally made it on their first day of opening in May this year and were not disappointed. We loved seeing the gardens and grounds which were really well cared for and full of colour despite it only being the first week of May. Their yew hedges and perennial borders were impressive and magnificent. It is also used as a wedding venue and I heard a couple about our age say they wish they could get married again just to do it their which was my sentiments too. A glorious venue. There are so many magnificent mature trees and the views across the lake are gorgeous.
Special mention to their lovely Courtyard Cafe and staff. The queue was moving slowly and the lady house owner appeared full of apologies to explain that the food inspectors had arrived at 10am and had only just left three hours later. Considering it was their first day of opening of the season, a Bank Holiday Sunday and a very sunny day attracting even more visitors the staff were impressive. They would have had a taxing morning when they should have been prepping meals but instead answering questions, filling out paperwork and all those things these food inspectors (who arrive unannounced) demand. Despite all this, after a slight wait, we had the most delicious lunch. We chose cheese and ham toasties and we both declared them the tastiest cheese and ham toasties ever. A delicious cheese - maybe Emmental - and good quality ham. We've tried to reproduce them at home a couple of times but not quite matched their version. We also had some delicious carrot cake which is baked inhouse. They got top marks (5/5) for their food inspection and clearly deservedly so.
