10/10 chill beach vibes, 9/10 snorkeling, 6/10 water safety depending on the day…bonus Marilyn’s right next door!

点评：One of my favorite places in PR! First stumbled upon it by accident after eating at Marilyn’s for dinner. Took a night walk on the beach after and saw a few local kids in the water. Went to chat with them, turns out they were spear fishing and caught stuff! One teen told me there were fish, octopus and other marine life by the rocks but it was dark and I couldn’t see a damn thing. Next morning woke up early and went back and it was absolutely gorgeous! A large rock wall protecting a natural pool with 2 separate areas with a rocky outlet on the west side of the beach. I went in with my snorkel and indeed had a wonderful experience. I’m 99.9% certain I saw an octopus but I was so stunned that when I think back i wonder if I was going crazy and imagining things lol.
CAUTION: On another trip I went back and was so excited that I was caught off guard and didn’t consider the effects of a storm that hit overnight. Even though the pools here are shallow and there are no waves in the pool, the winds can create a strong river-like current moving from east to west. I am an active/fit person and experienced swimmer and snorkeler, and I got caught in a rip. I was able to think rationally and act accordingly to get out, but a less experienced/prepared swimmer might have gotten in trouble. Definitely a humbling experience and due to this incident i now use a bright orange buoy whenever I snorkel solo so that I can be located easily. Point being, just be aware of the conditions because on a calm day waters could be shallow and still, but on another day it could swell and have pull. Even after everything, I still love this beach so much and will continue to go back when I can!
