点评：After finding that Southminster Hall was closed, we decided to try Prittlewell Priory instead. It was advertised as open until 17.00 and we arrived in Priory Park just after 16.00 Had a look at the bandstand, and the shop and went to enter the Priory only to find as soon as we got inside the porch that a staff member was locking up 40 minutes before closing time, due to staff shortages/sickness (the same reason for which Southminster Hall was closed). Strangely it seems to have not caused it to be closed before 16.20 and this mysterious epidemic afflicting both sites did not make it onto the local news. This is an important part of Southend History which should have been available during the advertised opening hours. We had to content ourselves with the exterior only, which was disappointing after travelling from Barnet
