点评:We visited Las Grietas while in Santa Cruz on holidays. To get there, you have to take a water taxi ($1 USD) and then walk about 20 minutes to the entrance. At the entrance they charge you $10 USD and they tell you that you cannot go in without a guide. They also tell you that you must go at certain times (on the half hour) and you can only stay for 1 hour. Once there, you can swim in the water between the rocky walls. It is not very big. There are some fish in the water. Make sure to take a mask and snorkel to see the fish.
Personally we don't understand why it is necessary to have a guide. It would make more sense to pay 2-3 workers to sit at Las Grietas with walkie-talkies to communicate with the front entrance to let them know if it is getting too full, and this way they can do crowd control. All the guides do is walk there with you. Then they all stand there while you swim. It is a waste of time for them and money to pay them for this service. In addition, we found that paying $10 USD was a lot for what it is. The bar and food places after the entrance are not very well maintained. The path is of volcanic rock so bring good shoes to walk. It makes you wonder what they are doing with all the hundreds of dollars they are making each day off the tourists? Certainly it is not going to maintain Las Grietas or to make the food places look any nicer.
