Great experience for third agers

点评：Being two mid 60s experienced road bikers but with no off road experience we trepidatiously booked 4 riding days over a week. On advice we rode for 2 days had 2 rest days then 2 more on the bikes. Having sensibly hired a car to get there from the airport this worked perfectly allowing us to tour the area on four wheels seeing such places as Ronda. Our guide, the indomitable Mark, emphasised that we would be riding to our abilities as he gradually increased the difficulty. Over the course of the week under his guidance and nurturing nature we ascended to heights that I never thought possible for a mountain goat let alone our trusty AJPs. In between the gnarly bits there were sweeping stretches on road to rest the legs and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Yes there were unschedule stops for repairs (usual guest caused) but for me fixing a puncture in the middle of nowhere is part of the fun but reassured that a spare bike was ready to be trailered in if necessary. Stops in remote villages for coffee and lunch were great as was the food and the locals welcoming. I've travelled a lot in Spain but never accessed such dramatic locations. We were impressed with the accommodation at the villa with credit to Clare's organisational skills. While self catering was an option with fully equipped kitchen we opted to eat out at the many walkable very reasonable bars and restaurants guided and occasionally accompanied by our hosts and other guests.
In summary if you want to be mollycoddled along leafy lanes on Concours d'Elegance machines look elsewhere, but if you want to experience Andalusia like you've never before with great food, drink, weather and craic oh and of course off road motorcycles it's Trailworld.
