点评：Working Dog Winery is a place where you can enjoy the day with a group of people for a casual time or a special occasion. The winery has a spacious area where you can set up for picnicking and bring in food if you would like. On weekends there are many events scheduled. A group can enjoy a guided tour, the live music or the company of each other. I didn't get a tour, but did have a great conversation with a staff member who gave me a great explanation of the equipment and what was being done. As a person who makes home made wine, this was very much appreciated. I would recommend a tour if you are interested in a "behind the scenes" education of wine making. A tasting of their wine is included in the tour.
It was nice to learn that the Vineyard was first planted in 2001 and opened to the public in 2003. The Winery began as a passion project between a group of friends. The first grapes planted were Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. Originally, the vineyard was known as "Silver Decoy Winery" and in 2013 it was changed to "Working Dog Winery." The new name was in honor of Chester, the 1st partner's dog who passed in 2011. The new name expresses the winery's dog friendly atmosphere. Today, there are a number of grapes planted in the vineyard. The Vineyard has added Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sangiovese Chambourcin, Pino Gris, Riesling and Traminette. I enjoyed glasses of their popular refreshing white wine called "Ugly Duckling." The staff is friendly and knowledgable. The charming grounds of the vineyards give a scenic view to the relaxing atmosphere. A must try for all who enjoy a day at the Winery.
