Be prepared for high parking charges

点评：This is a great place to visit, it’s in a beautiful setting there’s lots of activities to do with some being free to use and there are others which are priced accordingly.
Although we enjoyed our time here, we can’t help think it’s poorly managed, the outside seating area by the cafe is untidy with bins overflowing, they are not big enough to cope with all the rubbish and we didn’t see anyone emptying them, the outside benches were never cleaned they are old rotting and poorly maintained, there aren't enough shaded areas for those who want to take shelter from the sun, the dog poo bins were overflowing, there was no separation of cycle lanes/pedestrians in the area around the cafe which made it difficult to be safe with young children on the paths.
We felt ripped off by the cost of parking at £15.50 per car if you’re there more than 4 hours, we had to take two cars so £30 for a large family, I’ve been charged less for parking in central London, and wouldn’t mind if the quality of the facilities were better, as far as I could tell there were no discounts available even if you spent money on activities or in the cafe on food.
There are lots of walking trails and bike paths to use, plus kids play equipment etc, Forestry England (who run the site) argue that the cost of parking pays for the free activities, i suppose it’s a fair argument if the facility was better managed and kept clean.
