Do not look anywhere else for a glacier and lake excursion!

点评：We arrived in Olden on P&O Iona and had not booked any excursions as each port has plenty of reps touting their activities, such as Olden Adventures. We were drawn to their "Loen Lake and Kjenndal Glacier", priced at approx £70pp and I am so glad we booked it - the experience gave us the most memorable day for our family ("kids are late 20s, so we've had a few good days!)
You can leave at 10 or midday and the excursion lasts for just over 4 hours. You are driven 15 mins to a boat on Lake Loen (open top deck and enclosed bottom deck) and you cruise across the unbelievably beautiful Lake Loen for an hour. There are literally hundreds of waterfalls cascading down the sheer rock face, all melt water from the glaciers. The water, rich in minerals, has a beautiful colour. You stop beneath the short drive to Kjenndal glacier but first sit in a delightful log cafe and are served freshly made waffles with sour cream and strawberry jam and tea or coffee - no limit on how many you eat! Absolutely divine. Then the 5k short drive to the glacier car park and a 400m easy walk to a viewing point to take as many photos as you want. You are then taken back to the boat and an hours cruise and coach back to Olden.
To add to the quality of this excursion, Olav is a local historian who gave an often amusing but very factual commentary on what we were witnessing. The organisation was 100%. There is an option to combine a ticket with the Loen Skylift with a considerable saving of approx £21pp, but we didn't take this option (I would guess you would need to take the 10am time on this Lake and glacier excursion to fit the Skylift in if you are on a cruise ship.
