Rune is the most amazing tour guide!

点评：We were on the cruise ship Britannia and opted to take the LOEN LAKE & KJENNDAL tour right from the port side. We spoke to a very helpful woman who explained the day’s events: take the coach to meet the motor boat; sail along the beautiful fjords up to the Cabin where we would have fresh, homemade waffles, strawberry jam and sour cream by the log fire, then, on then on to our motor bus to the edge of the glacier. For NOK990 (£75 approx) we felt it was excellent value for money so we booked. The day was drizzly and grey but it did nothing to spoil or enjoyment of the beautiful scenery and fjords. Rune was an excellent t guide and gave us a history of the area, two natural disasters resulting in major loss of life and the following consequences. He told us about the natural history of the area and gave us so much information - he was truly very interesting and knowledgable. On our way back he told us a story about the Trolls and then, just when you think things can’t get any better he played Grieg’s In The Hall Of The Mountain King as we sailed along the fjord enjoying the stunning scenery. We managed to get quite close to the glacier but sadly, the clouds were very low but we did see part of it as identified by the clear blue of the ice. If you are considering ‘doing your own thing’ from the port of Olden then I can highly recommend this trip. It was the best day out! Of course, I’ve mentioned Rune several times but he is supported by various other people like the captain of the boat and his team as well as the captain’s wife who made the waffles and refreshments. Rather lovely coffee too! Safety is paramount on this trip and we felt very safe and guaranteed to get back to port in plenty of time to wander down to the shops and still have a look around the small town. Excellent trip! 🙏 Takk! 🙏
