点评：This review is for the ecotourism component of the part. It is not intented to detract from the conservation and environmental end of this reserve
Shame of the managers of this park for not allowing guests nor locals to explore the area without expensive companies/guides. If a nature park cannot be enjoyed freely by all then it is not a nature park at all. Of course, there are some situations where governments must impose restrictions on areas for the same of conservation. However, this is not the case with Rau forest that has large easily accessible trails running through it.
I arrived here on foot after reading that this area can be explored independently after respectfully paying the park fee, signing a waiver, and agreeing to rules. Upon arrival, I realized the situation was very different. The fellow at the front desk and park manager on phone denied entry to me even after others have posted about entering a few weeks prior. Locals were allowed to enter to cross the park on a road. However, it seems that this park believes parks are meant for exclusion which is the opposite of the park service duty.
It seems the ignorant Tanzanian government does not believe in free access for hiking trails for foreigners or its citizens. A DISGRACE
