Pro con advice on our “visit” to this market
马哈尼耶胡达市场的点评
点评：PROS
* The big famous (primarily) food, fish grains fruits and vegetables open air market of Jerusalem
* Vibrant colorful unique lively Jewish Middle eastern experience
* Many special (relatively new) restaurant opportunities
* Lively night life experience
CONS
* Loud, crowded and sometimes and in some areas poorly lit
* As per any outdoor food market with stalls- not super clean at all
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... as part of our special weekend when we went up to Jerusalem. It had been many years since we had been here, and a lot was still familiar after all that time.
It is lively and loud and colorful and super busy (watch your stuff although petty crime pickpocketing is not known here at all). There is jostling- the pathways are way too narrow, especially when hawkers enter the walkway to offer passersby their special stuff to sample.
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
Yes
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
For sure- there are great deals on all kinds of food and stuff
ADVICE
* It is a special experience- so do try to go (Sunday is the quietest day and Thursday evening/night and Friday are the busiest and liveliest).
* Be prepared for crowds and narrow passageways
* Be prepared for a multi-sensory experience
* If you choose to dine at one of the many new eateries, know that it will be loud, noisy, not intimate and very crowded (see a few of the attached photos)
