Absolutely beautiful views along with drive there

点评：Great views while driving to the lake and you do need a 4x4 car to comfortably drive to the lake. It was not a paved road closer to the lake and having a 4x4 was so much better. We stopped at many points along the way for pictures. We did not stay there overnight at the hotels there or did not eat at any restaurants there, so cannot comment on that. We had a private car and driver who drove us from Panjakent to Iskanderkul and then to Dushanbe. It seemed very hard to find any taxis there at Iskanderkul if you did not already have one waiting for you. I am sure the hotels there could arrange for a car and driver if you stayed there overnight. I only wish there was a trail alongside the lake that we could walk around the perimeter of the lake. It was lightly raining on the day we went and hence did not do any hikes but you can surely do small hikes near the lake. Definitely one of our highlights of Tajikistan.
