点评:There are historic sites all over Berlin. Each of them witness and memorialise tragedy and some of the darkest periods of the 20th Century. Set in the beauty of the lake at Wannsee the Conference House is understated and it takes a trip out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre to get there.
However, it is a place that tries to contextualise, educate and create harmony amongst people. I found the exhibition stunning, simple, accessible to all (clearly a lot of work had been done on this) and out of all the historic sites I have visited I found the house itself chilling. Perhaps it is the beauty of the surroundings and knowing what was set in motion in the small and beautiful Orangarie. When you stand at the window and look at the lake, the past seems far too near, the lessons unlearned by so many.
As I left and the birds could be heard flying across the lake I walked back to the station thankful that people have a commitment to goodness and knowing that mission is hard, when so much inhumanity can be discussed and planned in such a beautiful setting.
Thank you to the staff and team. Keep up the good work you do.
