Touristy - A Victim of Its Own Success
英式庭园的点评
点评：Following an AI search which highly recommended the English Garden, I decided to visit whilst visiting Munich for the week. Whilst aesthetically, this is a really lovely park, I couldn't help feeling a bit underwhelmed by the experience.
By way of positives, this is a lovely green space in the heart of Munich that provides excellent terrain for walking as it spans a good few miles at least! You can also go surfing here, if you're suitably equipped.
However, this place is a victim of its own success as I found it to be a bit too touristy and busy. Whilst this isn't necessarily the 'fault' of the English Garden, it does take away some of its serenity. In particular, I was disappointed with the sheer number of cyclists which you constantly had to dodge. As you meandered round the park, this made what should have been a pleasant, gentle stroll more of a headache than anything else.
I also found the place poorly signposted and I had to resort to Google Maps on my phone to find the nearest place to eat.
Finally, there was a nice place to purchase ice cream, however I was a bit purturbed by the fact that the vendor asked me to pay for the ice cream for the bloke in front of me who didn't have a debit card on him (it was card only)! Whilst this wasn't an issue per se, it would have nice to have offered me a choice?
Overall, as this is an iconic part of Munich, I'd still recommend a visit, however I would manage your expectations accordingly and I wouldn't devote more than an hour or two to this location.
