I booked 2 liveaboards with them totalling over $5000.
I had a real issue with the 2nd Liveaboard - Calico Jack, but Dive the World didn't help at all.
I used to work as a Padi instructor in several countries and have been on many liveaboards.
Although the Calico Jack was beautiful, the Indonesian staff were wonderful, the food was very nice, the safety, organisation and service from the cruise directors was most definitely not acceptable.
On arrival onboard I discovered I was expected to share a cabin with a man - I am female. The company agreed after several days that this was their mistake but it was handled very badly onboard.
I slept on deck on a damp mattress for 11 nights, no AC, no fan, dripped on when it rained.
It wasn't a mistake, we filled in forms with gender when booking.
They just figured it's cheaper to ask for forgiveness after rather than permission before.
The situation was poorly handled by the instructors, were very off hand and quite rude, comparing it to a dorm room in a hostel.
I didn't pay $3805 for a dorm.
They offered to refund my Nitrox fee but Nitrox was not available anyway, although our air tanks were marked nitrox.
They offered my beer free, of which I'd drank 3. My wine was not offered.
Cert cards were not checked on board. On the evening of day 7 only did the instructor/divemaster discover that I was also an instructor.
We kept changing dive guide, no continuity. Still asked on day 7 after 20 minutes how much air. Lack of planning and managing of the groups.
The aim was clearly to go deep and swim fast so guests run out of air and have a shorter dive, even though they briefed at the beginning there was no need to go deep.
I asked several times to go slower and maybe not so deep so we could have a longer dive. Took a week for that to start happening.
One lady at the beginning made it clear to them she was a little apprehensive as her husband/buddy wasn't diving at first. No effort made towards her - she said this to me and I saw underwater. She also told them she was uncomfortable after a dive. They didn't care. It was obvious she was quite inexperienced and unsure but not picked up by the staff. I ended up helping her until her partner was able to dive.
Lost buddy/group procedure on night dive was search for a minute then turn light to chest and search for another minute, then do safety stop and go up. Really????
We often had to wait for the cruise directors as they were often late to briefings, tender departures, forgetting equipment etc.
It just felt as though the cruise directors were on holiday themselves.
The tender left on a night dive with one cruise director, who was filming but no dive guide. We were told to go down and a guide would find us.
Didn't feel as if they knew the dive sites as we almost missed the site on one occasion and did miss it on another one, causing a double drop on an already 4 dive day.
Several days of reverse profile diving which I pointed out.
We only had 32 dives, not 33 as advertised but no explanation.
Paid $3805 and they gave me $352 back as compensation for not having a cabin.
I've done many liveaboards, worked and dived in many countries, and have worked in tourism in various capacities for over 30 years. This is definitely not up to scratch.
Use a reputable agency to book your dive trip - not Dive the World.
