As good as I remember it, but the clue is in the name.

点评：It’s many years since I visited Lincoln but being back in the city to try its best pubs it was an opportunity to reacquaint myself with this famous cobbled street and it was just as good as I remember it.
But the clue is in the name, the gradient is very steep. I prefer to climb it as it is actually quite difficult to injure yourself when walking up hill, whereas gravity may not be your friend when descending, but suffice to say it may not be the best option if you are not good on your pins and it is certainly not wheelchair or mobility scooter friendly. An option may be to catch a bus up to the Priory Gate side of the Cathedral where it is flatter.
Is it worth the effort? Yes most definitely as you will be rewarded with some excellent architecture, some dating from the 12th Century, interesting artisan shops and independent coffee shops as well as some decent pubs and restaurants. And at the top it does obviously lead onto the Bailgate and the Cathedral quarter where the gradient flattens out.
I cannot comment on the shopping options but the Wig and Mitre is a decent pub restaurant on the hill, as is the Duke William Hotel if you make it to the top end of the Bailgate. In fact for those that like an ale, the initial section of the Bailgate at the top of the hill provides some of the best options in Lincoln. For those who like craft ale then BeerHeadz is just off the Bailgate to the right down Eastgate, and probably the best ale house in town, the Strugglers, can be found a short 4 minute walk down Westgate.
