点评:Remarkably extensive museum which is not well enough known.
They have recently reduced the opening hours - be sure to check on the website.
The interpretation is particularly good. The ground floor is predominantly about carved wood, and leads you through developments in both techniques and style - I learned a lot. The second floor is paintings, arranged broadly by period. It’s not a world class collection, but it is worth seeing.
There is an exhibit of painted glass on the upper floor, which is lovely.
There was also a small but excellent temporary exhibition on the ground floor.
What was sorely needed was a floor guide - particularly on the first floor, which I saw in the wrong sequence because of where I happened to enter it.
There are a very large number of guides/guards for the volume of visitors. There are a place is beautifully curated, but it didn’t feel welcoming.
