Ulmer Münster的点评
点评：Ulmer Münster was a highlight for us when we visited in June and we are glad we got to visit during the Christmas Market as well. This time we actually put in the effort to climb the tower and it was very satisfying to see the sunset views over the Christmas Market as we climbed. When we visited we got in just before the closed the second stage of the climb so we were able to get to 102 m (335 feet) to a panoramic observation deck. The steeple itself was closed in December so we could not get to the maximum heigh of 143 m but we were thankful to get in the spectacular views.
It took us a total of 40 minutes to climb, enjoy the views and climb back down. This requires a moderate level of fitness and is not recommended for people with mobility issues but we did see families with smaller children enjoying the hike. Some of the staircases and passages are narrow but we had no issues. There is a walking path to go up and back down and some areas to rest along the way including a museum about halfway up through the climb.
Visiting Ulmer Münster is a must and the church has an in-spire-ing design with some fun features about the history including Berblinger, sparrows and bats. The interior, square in front, gift shop and tower climb are all worth it. We thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Market in the square below the church and the nearby Tourist Information Office is also worth a stop if you are spending time in Ulm to help better plan your visit. with their friendly staff. We have been impressed that it has not been too busy each time we have visited. The entrance fee is free but the tower climb costs 9 euros per adult which we would highly recommend. This is now the second tallest church in the world and it absolutely dominates Ulm.
