A Few Tips About Toppler's Castle

点评：One can reach this interesting tower castle several ways. We made a doable trek down from the Castle Gardens. It takes about 30 minutes to walk down. A scenic walk, indeed, on a nice day. A small bridge connects one over a stream. Walking left along the stream you will see this castle built in the 14th century by a mayor named Heinrich Toppler.
One can also reach this narrow but intriguing castle by car or even by a bicycle. Toppler is open at odd hours, mostly in the afternoon. It is closed in November. I would have your hotel call to make arrangements for a tour if you so desire. There is a nominal charge.
The day we came to Toppler, there was a group waiting. Toppler at that time was closed and was not opening until 15:00. We never did get in.
We could have missed this activity, but the walk down and up was exhilarating. Maybe one of the smallest castles in the world, it is rather an odd sight being a small house perched on a tower.
We also recommend walking around Rothenburg’s Medieval Walls. The walk around is over a mile long. We enjoyed viewing the alter wood carvings at the Church of St. James. Close by is a Reichskuchenme, a good place for lunch. Seeing all the Christmas ornaments in June at Kathe Wohlfahrt’s brought Christmas to us mid-summer. The Night Watchmen walk is well worth it and not cheesy either. And, if you have not booked your hotel, we highly recommend Hotel Burg. It is the place where “James Bond” stayed.
