维罗纳圆形竞技场的点评
点评：We went to see Franco Zeffirelli’s spectacular production of Aida and, having read so many differing reviews beforehand, I thought I would add my own perspective.
Yes, the seating can be uncomfortable, but you know that before you go, so take a cushion. Wear comfortable shoes, book a hotel close to the Arena and simply embrace the whole experience. We stayed at the Vista Verona, which meant we could walk back afterwards and feel completely safe without having to worry about finding taxis late at night.
My advice would be to buy the best tickets you can comfortably afford because this is one of those occasions where it really is about the experience. Sitting inside a Roman amphitheatre watching Aida performed under the stars was quite extraordinary.
This was my first opera and I absolutely loved it. The words were translated into English on screens, which made the story so much easier for us to follow and added enormously to our enjoyment.
Take the cushion, forget about the price of the ticket once you are there, look around you and soak it all up. Opera under the stars in Verona really does not get much better than this.
