点评：We visited the palace on our last day and only got to spent a couple of hours. There’s so much to see and the collection is really fascinating. The drinking vessels alone were worth the price of admission. My son doesn’t usually like museums but even he was intrigued by all the unusual artifacts. Because the collection is so vast (August the Strong liked to consume), i wanted to find an English-speaking tour but none were available. But, we took the 2-hour walking tour with locals two days earlier and learned about Dresden’s Baroque history, the royal family and the collection before our visit. If you’re not already familiar with the history of Dresden and Saxony, I would recommend a guide’s introduction to the collection either before or as part of your visit to make the collection more accessible. Foolishly, we only bought the 18 euro tickets, which didn’t allow entry to the Green Vault. Others told us that the Vault is essential. I guess we’ll be returning to Dresden to check out the Green Vault.
