What a fantastic museum!
美术博物馆的点评
点评：I’m a big fan of art museums, particularly those focused on paintings. I found this particular museum to be incredible. I liked the physical structure, a modernist building that feels substantial with large window-dominated spaces on the landings of the two main floors along with big anchor hallways. But of course what really matters is the art, and they have that part covered very well in my view. An amazing collection of medieval and renaissance and Dutch masters combined with a notable collection of post-impressionist (and a small grouping of impressionist works as well) on to contemporary painting. The Hans Holbein family is well represented, for instance. I spent three hours there and could’ve spent much more if not for another obligation. There are no big crowds so the experience is peaceful. For my money this is exactly what an art museum should be. How lucky for Basel to have it!
