点评:My visit to this special church was a happy accident. On my first morning in Copenhagen I visited the Danish Architectural Museum as it was very close to where I was staying. I read about this church with its ‘unadorned’ aesthetic and popular appeal and I decided to visit. It is a little outside the centre of town and the friends I was staying with were unfamiliar with it.
The soaring, uniform arches are beautiful and soothing. The pulpit resembles a cool, stone lego structure. The organ is enormous, yet not imposing. The original architect’s son who completed the project after his father’s death decided not to install pews and instead designed a practical chair that does not crowd the space when placed in rows. The chair is a design classic that has spawned many variations in use in homes all around the world.
The church is surrounded by alms houses.
We visited by car on our way out of town on a Saturday morning. Parking was easy.
They hold various events and concerts which I’ll research next time I visit CPH.
