点评:My mom and I were visiting Camp Verde area for an overnight on our drive to the Grand Canyon from the PHX airport and we were visiting the pharmacy and grocery store that shares a big parking lot with this museum. What drew us over to its location was the small vintage car show they were hosting in their parking lot (which they mentioned happens there pretty frequently). We ended up going into the museum and boy were we glad we did! They have a large collection of artifacts from local Native American tribes, thanks to the generous donation of the artist and Native American enthusiast Paul Dyck. Many of his paintings and personal items are on display in this museum, as well, and his artwork is astonishingly beautiful and definitely show his love and admiration for the tribes he lived among during his lifetime, some of the Plains tribe Indians. From their website, Dyck "lived with several Plains Indian tribes and was the adopted son of the Sioux warrior, One Elk and was also the adopted son of the Blackfeet artist, Lone Wolf." They also have other exhibits, including a mural that tells the story of the Hopi tribe/religious beliefs (be sure to watch the video on display, it's the artist himself explaining each piece of the mural and it's fascinating) as well as some displays of meteorites found in and around the Verde Valley area. We stayed a lot longer than we'd expected but this is truly a sweet find in Camp Verde not to be missed!
