Wonderful overview of modern Arab art

点评：Pleasantly surprised by the exhibits in this Sharjah art museum, I spent much more time than planned here. Very well displayed with enough space and documentation (light a bit dim) and not just focussed on established artists.
The permanent exhibition offers a good overview of works from Arab artists from the region and wider Arab world, including those who reside in the West. In addition there was an excellent summary of the works of Samia Halaby (Palestinian artist) and as a bonus an intriguing collection of mostly abstract modern art in an adjacent building. The latter fascinated me most.
Forgot to mention a small section with Orientalist art (mainly end 19th century). Interesting to observe the perception of Westerners, but perhaps of a different level than most of the other works in the collection.
