点评:We decided to go to APS today on a whim as I’d seen that they were running the train as part of activities for school half term. Hubby is a sucker for a train albeit a small one
When we arrive we of course realised half term means load … and I mean loads, of children
But still we pressed ahead
The museum isn’t that well signposted which is a nuisance and you have to park in the space centre next door - pay and display with one rate of £4 a day
We were approached by a volunteer called Mike who asked if we wanted to see some old vehicles and we happily followed him to the working workshop
He showed us the old Kirby and West Milk floats, old Leicester buses trams and horse drawn carriages as well as the fire engines etc. He obviously takes great pride in the workshop and was very knowledgeable. Very enjoyable.
The main museum itself was very busy… parents if you take your kids out for heavens sake supervise them! The poor museum staff were having to ask the kids not to climb on displays when parents had wandered off.
Sadly the train had de railed which of course happens so we didn’t hang around to ride on it.
Abbey pumping station is a lovely place to go to. The exhibits are well signed (although some are several years out of date)
Remember it’s free to visit and a lot of the staff are volunteers and not paid to child mind
