The Children’s Museum in Jacksonville is pure joy for my grandchildren—and for me as their very lucky visitor from New Jersey. Every time I’m in town, it’s the first place they ask to go. With four kids ranging from 1 to 9 years old, it’s not easy to find something that delights them all, but this museum delivers every single time.
They’ve stepped into so many imaginative roles—veterinarians, emergency responders, postal workers, TV broadcasters, astronauts, ship captains, train travelers, grocery clerks at the Winn-Dixie, builders, ball pit explorers, and basketball shooters. There’s even a special under-3 room with age-appropriate toys and a private restroom with a changing table, which makes it so easy for families with little ones.
We’ve never managed to do everything in one visit—there’s just that much to explore. The museum is cleaned daily, and the staff are consistently kind, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping children learn through play. Whether it’s answering questions, resetting an exhibit, or simply offering a warm smile, they help make every visit feel welcoming and special.
It’s affordable, engaging, and packed with opportunities for kids to stretch their imaginations. This place sparks creativity, encourages curiosity, and creates lasting memories. It’s a must-visit for families in Jacksonville—and a cherished tradition for ours.
