Not worth the hype
玻璃海滩的点评
点评：OK....so much to unpack here:
- This beach is behind an industrial area and the road to get to the beach is rutted, rocky and made of dirt. I wouldn't recommend driving this road after a big rain.
- The area where we parked (near the entrance to the beach) was a homeless encampment. There were cars and trucks parked right up against the edge of the beach, so you have to walk thru the cars to get to the beach.
- There was something rotting (fish or veggie scraps) on the ground near the cars, with tons of flies and a stench. We had to walk around this to get to the beach.
- Although there were homeless people there, nobody bothered us. But the whole area felt really sketchy to me. I didn't feel like I normally do when beachcombing (free and happy). I felt worried something was going to happen at any moment.
- We saw a resting Monk Seal just sunning on the beach. It was gorgeous. We gave it a wide berth.
So for the reason you are liking reading this review...
- Yes, you WILL find seaglass at this beach.
- The majority of the pieces we found were small.
- Most of the pieces I found were white/clear...not very exciting.
- We stayed for about 1 hour and then left. We didn't even consider coming back for another visit on our trip. It just wasn't worth it to me.
During our trip to Kauai, we visited a few other beaches. I spoke with another vacationer that had gone to Seaglass beach on Kauai and we both agreed that it wasn't really worth all the hype.
