点评:This was a really neat and well done replica Viking-vibed town, with tons of interesting artifacts on display that tied into Icelandic history. You could stay at the Viking Hotel (not sure if the welcome-mat lined alley of brightly colored metal huts is included in that), walk near the waters’ edge or catch some bird life in the earthen-roofed hut at the edge of the property.
There's plenty of memorabilia on display and souvenirs to browse…it was actually a great stop before the airport to grab some last minute gifts. We didn't get a chance to stop into the full on gift shop nearby (name translates to Skulls and Halos) but your nose will lead you right to the restaurant on premise.
The menu at Fjörukráin leans more traditional, hearty and authentic Icelandic fare (soups, stews, bread, lamb and fish) with the new school greenhouse greens to garnish and experiment with; case in point, this incredible steak salad. The bread and butter was a great base for us weary travelers, and we didn't have the stomach for a drink after 8 days on the island; that being said, they have a beautiful bar area and a nice drink list.
We were really running on E when we stopped in, passing through on our way to catch our flight home from Keflavik. We kept it simple with the salad and soup options, but the menu also features burgers, pizza and ribs! Very friendly service and hardly any wait on the food, just enough time to explore the cool decor and nearby gift shop.
