Visitor Centre 'Open' ? No, it wasn't - but it thought it was.

点评：Have been waiting for a long time for a trip to Lough Gur hoping that we could have it coincide with a trip to Co. Clare - it finally happened on Sunday 1-Sept.
A really beautiful and peaceful area - couldn't wait to get into the Visitor Centre to find out more details to properly enjoy the whole area.
Approached the V. Centre - sign said 'Open', could see light's on inside so we pushed the doors and... nothing, locked.
Nobody visible about, inside or outside - tried the doors again. Nope. Locked.
Not even a 'Back in 5 minutes' sign - just a sign saying 'Open'.
What a disappointment - but this is frequently the way in Ireland, you DON'T get what you might (should) expect, as in other well run places - you'd think we'd be used to it?
It isn't acceptable - I can only imagine the disappointment and frustration if a visitor from outside Ireland had tried to gain access, having made the effort and spent their time hoping to have a proper experience.
If that's you - I'm truly sorry that you, like us, may well have wasted your time.
As I say, it's frequently typical - just a shoddy approach to visitors and lazy attitude to one's job - it's not that difficult, surely, to either turn the sign to read 'Closed' or put up a temporary 'Back in 5 minutes' sign?
We did manage to find our way to the Grange Stone Circle, on the far side of the lake - very enjoyable, and idiocy-free, it was too.
