点评：If you like history , art and architecture this is your place. The palace is fab. This palace is surrounded by other massive historical buildings but they are closed so you can see only this palace. If they open the other buildings and maintain them, the possibilities are endless. Datia can become a destination in its own right.
It will take a good 2.5 hours to explore the palace. Some of the rooms still retain the 400 year old paintings and they are jaw dropping beautiful.
The design itself is spectacular.
The palace sits upon a hill and beside a lake. Imagine how picturesque this can be if this area is maintained. The approach road ( last 150 metres approx ) has to be done on foot as the alley is narrow and it goes through a village market. Can be very busy and not the cleanest alley. But once you have covered that part, you are rewarded with a view of this spectacle. See the photographs to get an idea. If you are in Jhansi, Orchha, Gwalior or Khajuraho don’t miss this palace.
We took a guide. He spoke in Hindi. I am not sure if he can speak in English. You will need a guide to show you this 400 room palace, and the rooms with the paintings. The first two floors are whitewashed. The fun begins from the 3rd floor. You can go up to 5th floor. 6th and 7th are closed.
