A birder's paradise..best reserve in the Monteverde area

点评：Compared to the other reserves in the Monteverde/Santa Elena area, this was the best for seeing birds, and much less crowded than the Monteverde Reserve. It is more compact than the others, but still 7-8 different trails run through the reserve. We were fortunate enough to see a male quetzal in full plumage, plus a trogon, along with a lot of other species plus a couple of different types of vipers and hummingbirds.
Personally I think the guide was worth it, although this is not a reserve where having one is essential, like in Monteverde or Bosque Nubioso Santa Elena. The birds were so numerous and easily spotted (especially when other guides were around) that you are fine with a really strong spotting scope or pair of binoculars. That said, the guide was great with his scope and helping get photos of the birds.
