Lovely place to get away from it all and enjoy being on the water

点评：We have been visiting Fowey since my husband was a boy, and is a favourite place to get away and relax for a week. Its a typical Cornish town with narrow winding roads to get to and around the town itself which leads down to a pretty harbour. There are two large pay car parks at the end of town near to the ferry , and another very large free car park at the top of town ( often empty). Its a fair walk down, but advise getting the community bus back up as its a steep hard climb back up. We stayed in a cottage overlooking the river, and its easy to spend a few hours watching the life of the river from paddle boards and canoes, to ferries, tugs, fancy yachts and cruisers to tankers going to the clay pits at the end of the river. Lovely to wander around the town with a large range of shops , great bakeries and ice cream shops , and a huge choice of eateries from pop up street food, pub meals, seafood restaurants to high end dining. However it can get very busy when cruise ships arrive , worth checking if a boat is due in before you visit. Highly recommend getting out on the water and admiring the views over Fowey or across the water to Polruan . You can hire paddleboards, canoes, self drive boats or take a trip on the ferry to the opposite side of the estuary or take one of the many boast trips offered from the harbour. Its a great base to explore much of Cornwall and only a 15 minute drive to the Eden Project
