Scrappy boat and watch out for the big hidden charge

点评：Be warned: there is a hidden rip off charge, supposedly for fuel, but actually almost 10x the true cost. This is hidden in extras: there is a (huge) pre pay option, then under details the website says that "if you choose not to purchase pre-paid fuel, you will need to pay a fuel deposit upon collection of your boat then pay for the fuel you use at the end of your holiday". All sounds very reasonable unless you drill down further and see the level of charge. We were charged 230 Euros based on 12 engine hours. I estimate the actual fuel cost to be under 30 Euros. For me, it was the lack of transparency and sense of being conned that really irritated me.
Beyond that, the staff were great, the Canal du Midi lovely and the boat, a Calypso, well laid out. But the boat was very scrappy, lots of minor damaged, broken kit, door not fitting, sticky throttle, intermittent rev counter, etc. End of season tiredness would be a kind way to put it.
We made the best of it and had a good time but we'll look at other companies next time.
