点评:They use the term “the Grand Canyon of Hawaii,” which is only partially accurate, as this canyon is way greener than the place in Arizona. Basically, you drive your car along the rim and stop at several pull-outs to get pics. There are a handful of “sanctioned” stops (where you pay for parking and number of entries…ticket is good at all official stops), and plenty of spots where folks have been pulling over for years and the trails can be seen from the road. You can identify the unofficial spots by groups of cars just randomly pulled over on the side of the road. Be warned, the unofficial spots have no safety rails, and the precipitous drops from the rim will kill you. Keep your kids/pets on a short leash (your MIL, not so much….I kid, I kid). The vistas are impressive, and you can see a couple of waterfalls in the distance. But I’ll be honest, after a few stops to take in the view, the rest of them are pretty much the same. So, you don’t need to stop at every view. The official pull-outs give you great photo ops, and maybe hit 1-2 unofficial spots (because the tour buses don’t stop there), and that should be plenty.
