点评:this is an island across the bay from wellington with an indigenous history. there were no guides or other indigenous representatives on site. there was a small museum. there is a strict protocol about inspecting your bags and person for anything that should not be on the island. upon arrival there was a small wooden shed we walked through and that was it. we hiked up to where the cannons were during WW2. there was also a walk to the lighthouse that we didnt do. the walking is mostly uphill on the way up so not really suitable for anyone with mobility challenges. a good option for those interested in history. take any food or water you need as there is nothing on the island but there is food and drink on the ferry. we stopped in days bay and had lunch on the way back and that was a good option. there is a popular beach right at the wharf. overall reccomend depending on your interests.
