Medieval themed Christmas Market in Esslinger

点评：We recently spent a couple days in Stuttgart and made the short train ride over to Esslingen to experience their Middle Ages themed Christmas Market held during Advent (late Nov to 22 Dec) each year. The market is spaced out between a few locations starting at Marktplatz before passing through Rathausplatz and ending at Hafenmarkt. Market stall opening times are 11am until late each day.
There are around a 150 stalls selling local and seasonal dishes both savoury and sweet, gluhwein and other drinks are found throughout as well. Some stalls sell Christmas ornaments, decorations and other seasonal and winter items. The stalls are beautifully situated around the many half-timbered and Medieval structured buildings of the Old Town.
Throughout, you will also find Medieval themed stalls with games for children and interesting things to see. Several platforms setup for performances and many era dressed stall keepers throughout, creating a unique Medieval Times atmosphere that is quite enjoyable and noticeably different than other German Christmas Markets you might have experienced elsewhere.
We really liked our visit to the Esslinger Weihnachtsmarkt and would gladly do so again if visiting the region during the end of the year in the future.
