点评:We visit Daejeon regularly and always fit in a visit to the Yuseong Hot Springs Foot Bath, but this time we actually had an apartment in Yuseong, just a few minutes walk from the Foot Bath and so my other half was able to join the other daily partakers and sit in blissful contemplation for a half hour or so each day.
For some reason, on this visit, I didn't find the water as relaxing as in the past - perhaps the hot water combined with the soaring temperatures of a late summer were just too much, but usually there is a certain level of relaxation and refreshment to be had in sitting with your feet in the water for a while, or walking the length of the pools, which have different surfaces underfoot to give your feet a massage.
If you go towards the far end, closest to the metro, the water is slightly cooler - cool enough for our granddaughter to have a delighted splash. The general behaviour expected though, as with all public Korean services and activities, is quiet, which proved a challenge with an excited two year old, although the locals - all around grandparent age - did seem to make allowances.
The variety of pools is quite extensive, stretching right along the length of the road and including covered pools and connected pools of slightly differing temperatures. Within the park next to the pools there is also a clay path and one can walk barefoot along this path before using the foot bath (washing the clay off before dipping into the foot bath with the taps provided), this is considered therapeutic.
If nothing else, going to the foot spa is, for some locals, a daily activity and sitting there gives you a quiet glimpse into local life.
A wonderful free resource.
