Colne Valley Railway的点评
点评：I ventured to the Colne Valley Railway for HST (High Speed Train) running day and was unsure what to expect having read some negative reviews on here. However my experience was one that was utterly enjoyable and I will definitely seek to return.
To start with I found everyone involved really friendly.
Upon arrival I was asked if I had been before, and with the aid of a map everything was pointed out to me by the friendly volunteers.
The collection of items here is impressive too, even the items that look as though they may not have moved for a while brought back a lot of nostalgia for me as they were the trains I used to ride on as a youngster. The buildings are all used to good effect too, with the history of the railway when it was part of the national rail network and also since it was brought back to life in the 70s as a preserved line covered in one of the buildings on the platform. In addition, the signal box is a working box and the signalman welcomes visitors in and was happy to chat. There is also a very impressive model Railway in another building.
As for the HST that was amazing. Seeing it traversing the Essex Countryside was quite surreal and although it no longer runs at a high speed, it’s noise , smell and appearance is a sight to see. I enjoyed a ride on it too, the carriages kept very clean and the seats were comfortable.
If you like trains, history or just a good day out, you can do much worse. I will be back.
