点评:Ben and Hannah set the standard for warm, relaxing hospitality and thorough and detailed knowledge about D-Day and ensuing actions. Their chateau, rebuilt by Ben, is a memory in itself with large rooms, D-Day artifacts throughout and sitting on a large, tastefully landscaped lot -- large enough for their chickens (fresh eggs!) and two dogs to run freely. Ben's deep knowledge of Normandy's history reflects decades of research. He differs from most tour guides in that he listens to his guests -- he doesn't take you on a set tour; rather, he takes you where you want to go. For instance, I'm a former paratrooper and wanted to walk the drop zones behind Utah Beach to pay my respects to my fellow paratroopers and learn about the Allies' strategy. Ben fulfilled my wishes and then some. We ended our visit by burying a set of jump wings worn by my son, brother and me at the 82nd Division memorial near their chateau. When it comes to hospitality, Hannah has such a deft touch. Our meals were unforgettable and the wine flowed freely. I think it's an oversight that Hannah hasn't been awarded a Michelin star or two! All in all, a wonderful, fulfilling visit to Normandy with two equally wonderful new friends.
