点评:Visited this imposing building yesteday. The Discovery Centre is fairly small inside but can take normally 1-2 hours or even a full day if one is curious . Suitable for all ages, more for learning and not touristy
Philanthrophic institution which supports financially and with strategy and resources global initiatives aimed at uplifting human life. Improved Sanitation is one with displays of toilets with improved waste disposal and recycling using minimal water . Poses thought provoking questions and makes you wonder how you can use or think of ideas to improve areas that need low cost mass solutions to.prevent disease,..with hygiene, accessibility, proximity, convenience, low cost low maintenance etc. Leant that US households use 100-150 gallons a day on domestic use!
Also deals with an area on how farms
can improve with technology such as mobilephones , drones ,radio, internet, weather monitoring ( learnt that only 15% of the world inadequately observed for weather forecasting)
Many macro subjects such as malnutrition and importance of child health, infant mortality.Sustainability, the importance of algebra (with an actual test to solve- very interesting to do reminding one of school days).
The real nice thing of the centre is you really don't need a guide and can go through each exhibit and participate in the process - what you want to do , how can improve and participate and is designed for all ages . Excellent communication by the display itself.
There was of course a very welcoming staff and a guide who could give a headline idea about displays on hygiene . We became pat of a group of 6 that were given the introduction by a guide. But most of it can be explored alone
Location is very convenient near Seattle Center .
Please
1 check days of visit and timings. Unusually closed on Sat Sunday Monday and Tuesday ! . Also check.timings . Open only till 5pm with closing announcements 15 m earlier
