It is more than 13 km long, squeezed between the mountains Gilau, Vladeasa and Muntele Mare - it got born between 1970 and 1974 - after damming the river Somesul Cald for hydro energetic purposes.
It is a place that offers many options for those who love watersports, you can go kayaking on the lake , angling - but only when you have the paperwork done , because there are strict rules for angling in the lake, boat rides - there are several boats that for a fee , will take you out on the water.
Hiking in the area is also a very good option and in the winter the ski slopes nearby can be also very nice.
