点评：Kouchibouguac National Park is one of the most popular natural attractions in the province of New Brunswick and much of the focus is on the water. While there are great places to swim and the park offers rentals of kayaks and canoes, the only opportunity for tourists to get out to the most remote parts of the park is by taking a Phoca Tour.
Phoca is the Latin word for a genus of eared seal of which the gray seal is one of the largest and most populous. The main purpose of taking one of these 2 and a half hour tours is to get a close view of the colony of gray seals that frequent the park. Sightings are pretty well guaranteed.
A second purpose is to learn the history of this area which is one of the hubs of the Acadian people. Story teller Camille does a great job of making the history come alive as you head down the smaller of the two Kouchibouguac Rivers to the sand bars and dunes that the seals frequent.
A third reason is to get a look at North America's second largest common tern colony. While you won't get as close as you will to the seals because of the shallow water around Tern Island you will still see plenty of them. Bald eagle sightings are also common.
The boat has three pontoons and is very stable and there is no reason to fear sea-sickness.
Anyone visiting the Kouchibouguac area as a tourist should definitely put this tour on the itinerary.
