点评:I very much enjoyed my look around the Biggar Gasworks. The volunteers were all very knowledgable, chatty and evidently passionate about the site and were extremely kind and showed me and my mates all around. The video, whilst old and antiqueted, was genuinely fascinating. It turned out i was there during one of the last days of the normal opperating season which was interesting. Not a bad word to say about the experience bar the fact of the "ongoing works" which, as a local to Biggar, seem to have been "ongoing" for a good few years now. The abundence of scaffolding really takes away from the whole experience with some areas being inaccessable due to this. it really detracts from the experience which in previous years of going has felt like stepping back in time, with the scaffolding however, it feels like you're entering a construction yard that happens to have a 1914 town gasworks inside it. its really disappointing that Historic Environments Scotland wont just pull their fingers out their arses and get the work done. whilst it may be a small site it is SO important to keep around especially considering it is the only town gasworks left in Scotland. I do wish HES would get around to doing the works.
