点评:We drove by this place and inquired with a local friend before deciding to go and were so glad we booked a guided tour with owner Juan Rojas. The butterfly dome, a structure he built himself and the largest geodesic dome in the country, is a marvel full of various kinds of butterflies, including many blue morphos and owl butterflies. They pick the eggs from the leaves everyday and incubate them through the caterpillar and chrysalis stages, and you get to see all of that! We walked the property with Juan and saw both kinds of sloths, one with a baby, and howler monkeys while enjoying local craft beers in the restaurant. Juan is an expert in butterflies, having studied them for 30 years, and this land is his family’s. You can feel good about spending your money here because Juan releases half of the butterflies he breeds, ships a quarter of them all over the world to be studied and admired, and keeps a quarter of them in the dome. This space is the very picture of responsible ecotourism, and Juan is so gracious and pleasant to be around.
