Our visit to Sphera, Israel's only exclusive white wine producer, was marvelous

点评：My wife and I have been to Israel several times with our kids. Most recently, we went alone and so we decided to indulge a bit in things we never thought we had time to do before. That included a visit to Sphera winery. What a special experience! Our host was Sima Rav Hon, the co-owner of the winery along with her husband. She sat down with us at a lovely table and wowed us with tastings from 5 or 6 different bottles of wine produced on site. For a fairly small property, Sphera has much to offer. Sima explained that Sphera is the only one of about 300 wineries in Israel that exclusively bottles white wines. Our tastings were accompanied by a fruit, cheese, and multigrain bread platter that was elegant and delicious. My wife is gluten free and she had plenty to choose from. There were beautiful flower arrangements strategically placed to create a nice ambiance in a relaxing space. We were not rushed at all. By the end, we were exchanging hugs with Sima, who was genuinely appreciative that we sought out her establishment. Before we left, we bought a bottle of wine and some dark chocolates, the latter sourced from a neighboring boutique chocolatier. A couple of days later, while dining in Tel Aviv at Claro, a popular upscale restaurant, we were tickled to see Sphera on the wine list. Of course, we ordered it! My advice is to skip the bigger assembly line wineries and head to this quaint gem of a destination. You won't regret sticking with white wine for a day!
