Beyond Our Expectations

点评：This was our first safari, a "bucket list" trip which exceeded our expectations. The office staff were friendly, professional, and happy to answer our many questions. The website is impressive and super-organized. Everything on our "Founder's Safari" was meticulously planned. We spent 7 days at impressively comfortable and equipped camps on the Serengeti, where the staff were excellent and always helpful, the food abundant and tasty, and the wildlife viewing breathtaking. A "happy hour" and a breakfast in the "bush" were fun surprises. We met and visited a number of Maasai, and were impressed with Thomson's commitment to support them through their foundation.
The last 3 days at the luxurious Gibbs Farm and visit to the Ngorongoro Crater were another wonderful experience.
Our guides Arthur and Joseph couldn't have been better; friendly, experienced, knowledgeable, supportive.
We were lucky to have travelled with three other lovely couples who soon became friends.
These safari trips involve many hours on bumpy, dusty roads. I brought an inflatable seat cushion, which helped. In retrospect, we would have opted for 6 days at 3 camps in the Serengeti instead of 7 days at 4 camps.
On the other hand, traveling in November, the supposed "short rains" season, ended up being a great choice. There was barely any rain, some welcome clouds, and the roads were much less crowded than during high season.
The last 3 days at the luxurious Gibbs Farm and visit to the Ngorongoro Crater were another wonderful experience.
